How to properly maintain your weave?
Having a weave does not mean that you no longer have to take care of your hair. On the contrary! The maintenance of your extensions and your natural hair is essential before, during and after the laying of your weaving. So here are some tips to live your daily weaving in the easiest way possible, with the certainty of always having a hair resplendent!
How to properly maintain your weaving step # 1: the shampoo!
After laying your weave, you will of course have to think about washing your hair. And yes ! This may seem obvious, but some people tend to think that because they are not their “real” hair, they are exempt from shampooing and maintenance. Well no ! Amyra Paris weavings, for example, are made with real hair (Remy Hair), so they need to be washed regularly. Not to mention your own hair and scalp, which will always need to be maintained. The right rhythm? Once a week, for a healthy hair and extensions in good shape. The key word during your shampoo? Delicacy!
For this, you need to make a mild shampoo, moisturizing preferably (or nourishing, depending on the nature of your hair), warm water, with a minimum of product (a maximum cap), taking care to wash your weaving, but also the hair underneath. Rather than rub, massage your hair, not to damage them, or risk breaking them, first the scalp, and then on the lengths. The rinse is then done in cold water (warm, if you can not stand the cold water, but not too hot) and from top to bottom, to rinse well the product. Do not hesitate to rinse several times, until you are sure that there is not a drop of shampoo left on your hair. Once the product is completely eliminated, go to the conditioner, applying the same technique and above all, the same delicacy! To facilitate the application, do not hesitate to use a conditioner spray, and make sure that the product also penetrates into your hair, below the weave. Allow at least 10 minutes to allow the product time to penetrate and act. Then rinse, always in cold or lukewarm water.
Step # 2: Drying
It is very important to dry your hair well. Your extensions, certainly, but also your real hair underneath, otherwise bad smells and itches will be at the rendezvous! Before drying, we begin by unraveling the fingers, starting with the tips. Then finish the disentangling with a wide-toothed comb. Drying in the open air is strongly recommended. But if you can not stand to stay wet hair too long, here is the technique: first dry gently, with a soft towel, then finish with a hair dryer, at low temperature (no more than 130 ° C), keeping it a good distance from your head, and having applied a heat protector beforehand (a serum, for example).
Step 3: Styling
Now that your hair is dry, it’s time to give them style! First of all, keep in mind that you should not pull too much on the hair, so as not to damage it (moreover, it also applies when you do not have extensions). It is therefore preferable to use a soft brush. Do you want a blow dry? To curl or smooth your hair? No problem ! Just apply a heat shielding serum and do not exceed 200 ° C for your heating devices.
